improper breathing techniques and incorrect swimming strokes. The experts explain here on CTS.
According to experts, breathing to only one side during the freestyle swimming can lead to a herniated disc or even paralysis.
Therefore, swimmers should protect their necks by alternately breathing to both sides and avoid lifting their heads too high.
For those who swim the breaststroke with their heads above the waterline should avoid leaning their heads back too far,
which adds pressure in the neck and spine.
Most importantly, to prevent neck and spinal injuries, stretches for warming up is essential before entering the water.
