FIBER INTAKE HELP PREVENT BOWEL CANCER
A latest study shows that for every 10g a day increase in fiber intake, the risk of bowel cancer is reduced by 10 percent.
Researchers have concluded that the increase of fiber intake, particularly cereal fiber and whole grains, can prevent colorectal cancer. It is also found that around 90g of whole grains in diet can help bring down the chances of getting colorectal cancer by 20%.
Researchers are suggesting people to eat more whole grain foods, such as whole grain breads, brown rice, cereals, oatmeal and porridge.
However, with all the health benefits of increasing fiber and whole grains intake, the study said there was no evidence that fiber in fruit and vegetables played a part in reducing bowel cancer risk.
