FARMINGA'S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT
Actress Vera Farmiga takes a turn in the director's chair. In the new film "Higher Ground" Farmiga pulls double duty as the star and the boss. Farmiga plays a born-again Christian who harbors doubts about her faith. [0]Vera Farmiga, actress and director, saying, "It's not easily digestible. It's not easy to market this film.
It's not a faith particularly for believers, though I made a film for them and it's not for unbelievers, but I'm asking them to join us. It's like I made a film for team human. I think we can all relate to this thoughtful seeker's struggle to find the concepts of God that are meaningful and real." The movie is funny, and at times tender and romantic as it embraces all the quirks and struggles in the lives of its characters. Vera said, "You're kind of baptized into the world of this film, but I think what helps is the enormous sense of humor and the approach of humor to the film. We were chuckling through this experience. You have a very healing humor and laugher is healing and it carries us through this journey. So it is a good time." "Higher Ground" hits U.S. theaters on August 26.
