In order to promote the society's acceptance, a local director has spent 2 years shooting a documentary about the lives of four children who suffer from autism.
The film is currently available online for the public to view for free.
Meet Tsai Jie, a child born into a loving family and is doted on with toys and storybook CDs.
Many would say Tsai Jie is a lucky kid - but at only two and a half years old, Tsai Jie was diagnosed with autism.
He develops at a slower pace than other kids and struggles with serious language impediments.
To help his son, Tsai Jie's father reads every bedtime story for more than 35 times so that his son would remember them.
His father usually wonders whether the boy understands the stories, but whenever he sees his son smile, he feels much relieved.
The documentary "I am Tsai Jie" took Taiwanese director Shen Keshang a total of two years to finish, and it is the final installment of the director's four part documentary series on autism,
Through in-depth field investigations, poignant life stories, scientific evidence, and candid narratives, Shen hopes to evoke the public's compassion for those suffering from autism.
The documentary is currently available for free viewing on the Internet.
