RESCUE EFFORT STILL ONGOING
People in the east coast are still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, which killed 40 individuals and caused billions of dollars in damage.
Soldiers have been airlifting emergency supplies to 13 towns and villages in Vermont that are isolated by washed-away roads, while reports are saying that more than 200 roads remain impassable in the rural parts of the state. At the same time, nearly 100 people are still stranded in the mountainous areas of New York State after roads and bridges were destroyed from the storm, which dumped about 13 inches of rain.
In response, President Barack Obama has vowed that the stricken areas will have "the support they need so that folks can recover".
