NTU AND PEKING UNIVERSITY TO INCREASE EXCHANGE STUDENT QUOTA
A delegation from Peking University, led by President Zhou Qi-feng, visited the National Taiwan University on May 9th, which the NTU named "Peking University Day." Three agreements regarding academic cooperation were signed on that occasion, including one that will increase the quota of exchange students from 2 to 10 per semester.
Peking University president Zhou Qi-feng last visited National Taiwan University for a private, academic collaboration.
Since the three bills related to Mainland Chinese students passed in mid-August last year, the exchange levels between Peking University and National Taiwan University have reached a new high.
However, some students wonder how many opportunities are available for mutual exchanges.
So far, National Taiwan University only allows two exchange students from Peking University each semester.
But after signing the agreement, the number of exchange students will be increased to 10 students in each semester since August.
Another agreement signed is about the collaboration of libraries and the social science institutes.
The top universities in Taiwan and China have a close tie now, paving a way for the basis for reaching to the level of top world class universities.
But the unveiling ceremony of a Peking University's liaison office in National Taiwan University was cancelled since the Ministry of Education hasn't approved its establishment.
