MA VISITS TSING HUA UNIVERSITY
President Ma Ying-jeou visited the National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu on Sunday in honor of its 100th anniversary. Citing the geographical and cultural advantages of Taiwan, Ma expressed his ambition to turn the island into East Asia's center of higher education.
President Ma was on hand for National Tsing Hua University's 100th anniversary.
Everyone was really polite.
They all stood up to greet the President or shake his hand.
Ma felt as if he was transported back in time as he took to the stage.
He recalled that college back then was really hard to test into. Now, the acceptance rate is 90%.
Colleges have started to open their doors.
President Ma said there were so many talents in higher education.
It would be a waste not to turn Taiwan into the leading East Asian center for higher learning.
But, actions mean more than words.
The President said he will help everyone secure a raise, which most of the audience responded happily.
But others are hoping the President will also help workers in the private sector secure a salary raise too.
