COUGH SYMPTOMS SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED
Doctors are seeing a growing number of cough cases recently, with many of them reported to be infected by the mycoplasma bacteria, which can lead to pneumonia if not treated properly. Medical experts are suggesting patients to seek for professional help immediately and not to overlook the symptoms.
While the peak season of influenza has passed, there are quite a few of patients experiencing cough symptoms for a long period.
According to doctors, usually the symptoms of coughing related to a cold last no more than two weeks.
But many patients seen in the outpatient clinics have been infected with Mycoplasma.
If one didn't seek immediate medical attention, this symptom would drag on and may lead to pneumonia.
The symptom can be contagious.
According to the Center for Disease Control, the spread of Mycoplasma infection may last into May and clinical cases of drug-resistance have been found.
The center says that the situation is not too serious now and doctors suggest those who experience coughing for a long period of time to seek medical help to prevent unwanted complications.
