A PAY RAISE FOR PRIVATE SECTOR TOO?
Following the previous story,
Contrary to what the survey suggests, some private corporations said that it's unlikely for them to increase the wages for their workers, because the business performances and salary systems vary from firm and firm and from industry to industry.
While the government is going to increase pays for military personnel, teachers and civil servants,
those in the private business sector are saying that the pay increase in their industries should be based on each individual company operations, for some recovered from the financial crisis and some are still suffering.
However, some companies are more fair as in each year, employees would be able to get pay increase based on performance.
for the first Quarter this year, the IT and law industries are increasing the pay by an average of over 4% while construction and financial sectors are raising 3% to 5%.
Traditional sectors, transportation and manufacturing sectors are seeing less pay increase of only 1% to 3%.
According to Job Bank, high tech industries did grow while traditional industries simple went back to the level before the global financial crisis.
Though the high tech industry performed well in the first quarter, the effects of the earthquake in Japan and the increase value of NT$ have not set in yet, thus the performance predictions for 2nd and 3rd quarters are going to be a bit more conservative.
As the economy is recovering, most high tech companies are looking to hire new people, which is going to raise the average salaries level of the labor force in the short run.
