CLEARING A PATH FOR BUTTERFLIES
The migration season of milkweed butterflies is around this period, with more than one thousand of them flying through the skies per minute just days ago. To protect these pretty insects from being hit by vehicles and to clear a traveling path for them, the officials have blocked the outer lane of the Number 3 National Highway in Yunlin's Linnei.
On the No.3 national highway in Yunlin Linnei area, looking up, you'll see numerous milkweed butterflies traveling through the highway, creating a very beautiful scene.
Due to the warm and sunny weather these days, up to 11,000 butterflies per minute traveled through the area, which is the highest amount in three years.
The rare scene has also attracted many visitors to witness the beautiful migration. However, many butterflies passing through the highway are killed by vehicles.
And to protect the butterflies, highway officials have decided to partially block the northern roadway near the Yunlin Linnei area, around 1.5 kilometers in length.
They also hope that drivers traveling through the area can be careful when driving, and help the butterflies reach the north safely.
