NEW CPR GUIDELINES
The American Heart Association has recently made some changes regarding CPR. New guidelines have been introduced, and the Department of Health has announced that we will be adopting the adjustment, to compliment the latest research that demonstrates the need of increasing the speed of the chest compression to up the chances of saving lives.
A new CPR procedure has been released by the Department of Health.
Since some are ambivalent about giving mouth-to-mouth to others, there have been cases that an immediate rescue has been delayed, causing irreparable damage to the victim.
Therefore, the 'new' CPR says that the first step should be to pump the victim, in between the center of their ribcage for 5cm deep, the frequency should be 100 to 120 times per minute.
The ratio between mouth-to-mouth and pumping remains the same as before: 30 to 2.
According to the firefighters, the rhythm of pumping should also be more rapid in order to pump more blood into the brain of the victim to prevent brain-dead and lessen the chance of sequela.
Also, the new version of CPR will be more user-friendly, so that more people will be equipped to perform a first-hand rescue in the future.
