ONLINE PLATFORM TO BOOST FARMING INDUSTRY
The Taitung County government has launched an online site, providing a platform to assist farmers to market their crops via the Internet. The public can also get involved in the user-friendly application, by pre-ordering the produce. But how much will this website help the farming business? Let's find out here on CTS News.
The one-ping lettuce farm has been adopted by Ms. Ho at 500 NTD per month.
Everyday, the farmer would work on the farm on Ms. Ho's behalf. The rising online farm project is that farmers upload photos to their blogs or send emails to adopters.
But the number of people in the project is too low, which really doesn't help much. Farmers in remote areas believe it's a difficult task for them to join the online farm project as they are not good with using computer.
Besides, they are physically exhausted from farming during the day, it's hard for them to update the blogs everyday. This year Taitung County government is to launch the online farm project to establish a platform, helping farmers to conquer the technological challenge.
So agricultural products can be adopted and sold before they are harvested.
Council for Agriculture provides more than 3 million NTD in subsidy; currently, the Taitung County government is to recruit 10 farmers to demonstrate the plan and farmers also hope that such new marketing model would actually make a difference and increase their income.
