WATCH OUT FOR FRANCHISE TRAPS
A woman in Kaohsiung complained to legislators that she paid 600,000 NT dollars three years ago to join the franchise business of a dessert shop but her store never became a reality. She didn't realize that she signed a partnership contract instead of a franchise one. Experts suggest that people should always double check on the terms of the agreement to prevent similar misfortune.
Ms Wu was the store manager of a dessert shop who had a dream of opening her own shop, however, after investing NT$600,000 into the franchise, her dream become a nightmare.
After the termination of the contract, Wu found out that it was a partnership contract and not a franchise contract that she signed, thus she is not eligible to get the refund.
We took a look at the website of the dessert shop and saw it advertise franchise information with telephone hotlines for people to call from anywhere in Taiwan for franchising information.
Without doing legal research, Wu signed the contract, which was not certified by the fair trade commission, which the commission reminds the public that, the Franchise Exhibition is to take place on the 18th at World Trade Center,
those interested should take time to review the contract within the first 5 days after singing to avoid falling into the trap set up by some businesses.
