AN ECO-FRIENDLY PARK
The Cijin Windmill Park is the first of its kind in Kaohsiung City and also in Taiwan, which combines leisure with wind electricity systems. The 10 windmills provide power to streetlights and facilities within the park, making it the most environmentally friendly one in southern Taiwan.
With the wind continuing to blow, these windmills are turning at Cijin's windmill park, located in the heart of the Cijin peninsula.
Originally, this location was to be the site of a sewage treatment plant expansion, but in 2003, it was planned as a park to provide open space for tourism.
Now, this row of seven windmills, has become a sort of landmark, and even during weekdays, many come here with their cameras to enjoy the scenery.
Another three windmills stand on their own.
These 10 windmills turn on their own every day and generate electricity for the park's streetlights as well as other electricity for use.
Walking the trails along the coast, biking, or playing Frisbee on the lawn, as well as flying kites has made Cijin's windmill park a popular tourist and leisure facility.
In fact, this wind power park promotes environmental protection for the entire Cijin region and has become an important tourist attraction in Kaohsiung,
and every Lunar New Year holiday a large influx of people has come to the area.
