Kids Sickened by Unknown Gas
A toxic gas leak near a junior high school in Kaohsiung county has caused injuries to nearly 20 teachers and students. Even though they were released from hospital the very night, the problem still wasn't solved. Five more students suffered from similar symptoms the next morning, and were immediately sent to the infirmary.
Located right next to the Da-fa Industrial Park in Kaohsiung County, the Chao-liao Junior High School is again affected by unknown gas.
More than a dozen students and faculty members were sickened and went to hospital for treatment.
They were released from hospital Tuesday evening and one student is still being hospitalized.
Before the class started Wednesday morning, the teachers told students to wear masks and close the window if there's any strange odor.
Right after the first class, five students said that they felt uncomfortable and had signs of vomiting and dizziness as they claimed to have smelled the same odor yesterday.
Parents were so angry that the incident repeated itself after two years.
According to the Kaohsiung County's environmental bureau, the infrared detector installed in the junior high school has showed abnormal value of Methyl and ethyl acrylate and the authorities are investinging which factories in the industrial park may be the producer of such air pollutant.
