CLASSICALLY PRODUCED SESAME OIL
Our next story takes you to Mei-nung of Kaohsiung, where a family business spanning four generations has been providing local residents with sesame oil for more than 80 years. And their insistence on classical methods of production has kept the quality of their products consistently high through the passage of time.
Making sesame oil, the first step is that raw sesame seeds are to be stir-fried for 90 minutes and spread out to cool on the ground.
The old oil-pressing machine at the shop has been around for 80 years in Kaohsiungs MeiNung in a family operated business that has been around for 4 generations.
After the crushing the sesame seeds to pressing the oil, all steps of the process must be done completely for the best quality sesame oil, which is an old fashioned way to make the sesame oil.
The forth generation owner Wu ZenHsien said that, it is hard work and something his ancestors passed down to him.
The traditional method of making sesame oil has been preserved in the family as the Wu family will continue to pass the shop and sesame oil technique down to future generations.
