WANG VOWS TO TURN CONTROL YUAN INTO "COMPASSION YUAN"
Control Yuan President Wang Chien-shien announced earlier this week that he plans to transform the governmental branch into "an institute of compassion" in the remainder of his term, in order to better protect the rights of the public. He also claimed that he will donate 10 million NT dollars out of his own pocket to set up a foundation to take care of childless senior citizens like himself.
While meeting with the media recently, Control Yuan President Wang Chien-shien said that he would be using the three years remaining in his term to turn the Control Yuan into the Compassion Yuan
by using the Control Yuan's power to monitor the government and increase its efficiency.
Wang also announced plans to use 10 million NT from the proceeds of the sale of his house to establish the "Seedless Watermelon Social Welfare Foundation" after Chinese New Year.
The foundation will extend credit to childless elderly people like himself,
and Wang expressed hopes that as more and more people join the foundation,
the foundation will have more and more resources to care for both childless elderly people and elderly people living on their own.
