WINNERS OF THE FIRST NCL COMIC STRIP CONTEST
The inaugural comic strip contest on the theme of civic virtues was launched by the National Central Library late last year, and an award ceremony was held this month to honor the winners, whose creativity and artistic skills have even impressed veteran cartoonist, Liu Shin-chin.
Influenced by her mother, the six-grader, Lu Ping-shien, has been drawing since she was in the kindergarten.
Her inspiration came from her everyday life, including her true experience of seeing other people occupying the priority seats on the bus. She drew down the story and won the first prize.
Another winner is the student from National Taipei University of Technology, Xie Tsai-ni, who snatched the champion
She tried to call the public to pay attention to global warming by presenting the crisis of the polar bear family on a melting ice.
Even the renowned comic author, Liu Shin-chin, praised her straightforward and humorous style.
It is the first time that the National Central Library organizes a comic competition.
Even though judges are quite satisfied with the average quality of the 1,705 submissions, they say that it will be even better if these works could carry a sense of humor and local elements.
And to help children develop better civic virtue, they hope that competitions like this can be held as many as possible.
