DPP is currently in the middle of discussing whether or not to rely on opinion polls to select the official nominee for the presidential election.

Following disagreement over the issue, former vice-president Annette Lu is planning to propose an amendment on DPP's current nomination process, which will include internal voting by party members and policy debates between all potential presidential candidates.

DPP's proposal of nominating the presidential candidate solely based on public polls has caused controversy within the party.

Former vice president Annette Lu opposed the idea.

She planned to launch a signature drive to propose on the DPP national congress held on January 12th, asking the DPP to also include the eligible party members vote in addition to the public poll.

Her proposal includes that party headquarters holds debates across the country.

DPP's party chapter amendment committee, which is responsible of amending the nomination rules, is going to have another discussion this afternoon on the public poll issues.

They will discuss again at the central executive committee.

Annette Lu, who is also a member on the committee, is going to be at there.

It is expected that a fierce debate will take place on the meeting this Wednesday.
