Life of a Recycler
A sixty year old pensioner in Hsinchu has devoted his retirement life to a green living style, turning recycled materials into artistic lamp shades.
And a new documentary has been made based on his story in order that more people can be influenced by his example.
60 year-old Mr Wei retired more than ten years ago as he spends his time searching for bottles and jars.
He is also good at taking discarded useless junk and transforming it into something special such as these lights that can be sold for more than 10,000 NT$.
Wei also recycles food waste, but he is careful to see if there is any odor as he processes it and then goes out to feed stray dogs,
regardless of wind and rain, he has been consistent in his work, and keeps exceptionally busy in his retired life.
He cherishes everything and has a special attitude to all things in life.
He has even touched the documentary filmmaker Wang Cheng-hsiang who spent six months filming a documentary about him.
The director said, Wei was living a completely environmentally friendly life, and through this simple life and this film, hoped to convey his spirit of cherishing all things.
