No More Calls From Telemarketers?
We are all familiar with receiving calls from telemarketers, which can be quite bothersome at times. Now, legislators are demanding the Financial Supervisory Commission to put a stop to this, by asking the banks to respect the rights of individuals.
Many people often received a call from bank asking if they need a loan or would like to buy funds, insurance, or other items.
This type of telephone marketing has been troubling to some.
The Legislative Yuan has asked the FSC to take action regarding such telephone marketing and if individuals expressly decline receiving such phone calls in the future, telemarketers should be prevented from maknig such calls.
Some of these telemarketers claim to they are simply outsourcing contractors though some individuals have directly called these banks to stop the calls.
Legislators believe that such a request is not unreasonable.
The FSC has put restrictions on the banking sector which can no longer make phone calls to market credit card cash advances.
Other areas such as small loans, insurance, and the sale of goods are not affected by these restrictions.
Now, all of this will be reviewed as banks will be required to provide outsourcing contract information with citizens being protected from such harassment in the future if they do not want to receive such calls.
In addition, regarding limits on ATM cardless bank deposits, legislators have set an upward ceiling of 30,000 NT$ to further fraud and reduce consumer losses, as related provisions should be completed within two months.
