Bladder Cancer Caused by Dyes
In health news, a young lady who works in a dye factory has been suffering from frequent urination recently and was later diagnosed with bladder cancer. Doctor said that her exposure to the chemicals at work may very likely have caused the disease. In the following story, we have more details.
A 27-year-old lady in Taichung county suffers from symptoms such as frequent urination and urgent micturition for several months.
Her symptoms had been mistaken for cystitis and her condition didn't improve through medication. Through tomography, her doctor found that there were several tumors in the patient's bladder, each of them was the size of a fist, and had occupied half of her bladder.
She was soon diagnosed with bladder cancer.
After looking into the patient's lifestyle, the doctor found that the patient worked at a dye factory and she was exposed to chemicals such as PPD, a chemical that's been proven to cause cancer, for almost 12 hours a day.
Her doctor said that it's very rare for young ladies to develop bladder cancer, while most bladder cancer patients are people over the age of 50.
It was speculated that the chemical in the volatile dyestuff was the main cause of her bladder cancer.
Now, the tumors have been removed and the patient has recovered from the cancer after receiving four chemical therapies.
She said she would never expose herself to the dyes anymore.
