This papaya plantation belongs to Farmer Tsai of Lin-nei Township of Yunlin County, who was the winner in the papaya evaluation contest.
Farmer Tsai was also last year's winner.
Whether it was in fruit appearance, taste, and texture, only Farmer Tsai's papaya flavor, did the judges most favor.
The Lin-nei plantantion, spanning over 300 hectares, is Taiwan's most important papaya production site.
In order to promote the fruit, the Lin-nei Farmer's Association held a papaya evaluation contest, which drew in 50 to 60 contestants, each hoping to garner the reputation for producing the best papayas.
Judges advise that consumers can choose the best-tasting papayas by observing the gloss on the papaya skin.
Farmers are also experimenting with papayas as an ingredient to create various tasty culinary dishes for the public to taste.
