Kmt Shows Support for Hau
The flower purchase scandal involving the Taipei's Xinsheng Overpass and the Flora Expo may cost incumbent mayor Hau Long-bin's chance for re-election. To minimize the downfall, KMT has asked its Secretary-General King Pu-tsung's advisor, Chao Shao-kang, and former Taipei City Mayor Huang Da-chou to join Hau's campaign, to demonstrate the party's strong will to win the battle.
The KMT's Kaohsiung City mayor candidate, Huang Chao-shun, recently held a campaign rally in Taipei.
The party's Taipei City mayor candidate, Hau Lung-pin, has been beset by reports of Flora Expo-related corruption, and KMT Secretary-General King Pu-tsung has returned to Taipei to oversee his campaign.
According to some within the party, the scandal shows that Hau is relying on the advice of only a few select. In response, Hau said that he would humbly accept the public's criticism.
When asked whether the scandal affects the KMT's "Twin Golden Cities" plan and his own campaign, the party's Xin Bei City mayor candidate, Eric Chu, said that voters will elect the right candidate, and that he has confidence that Hau has the ability to navigate bumps in the road.
The KMT has asked King's advisor, Chao Shao-kang, and former Taipei City Mayor Huang Ta-chou to join Hau's campaign strategy team.
Hau says that he is happy to have the pair join his team, and that his campaign will benefit from their expertise.
