Life Award
The Taitung County family support center holds a Rising Star Award ceremony every year, in their effort to assist more than 3,000 children in their fight against poverty.
A new category of Life Award has been added this year around, to commend those who overcame their struggles.
This little girl by the surname of Gao, living in Taitung County's Dulan Village was the winner of the Life Award, a new category of the Rising Star Awards ceremony hosted by Taitung County's family support center.
Gao, a second grader this year, was born with a prolasped heart valve, and suffers from mobile disability.
She has trouble walking and is smaller in stature than most other children her age.
However, she has a persevering attitude and diligence to make up for her shortcomings.
Gao has four siblings, and her visually impaired father and mother who suffers from chronic diseases must work hard every day just to scrape by.
Three years ago, the family accepted help from the family support center, but they never stopped working hard to climb out of the depths of poverty.
This Life Award is also a way to encourage the whole Gao family in their struggles, as
the Gao family's diligence and efforts will set a great example for many other families with similar cases in Taitung.
