The 38-year-old Chen Tzi Huan won the competition of Taitung Lu Yeh area first stage rice crop.
Chen moved back to Taitung 16 years ago with her husband to take care of the sick mother in law and started to become a farmer.
The first ten years of her farming life was very average, until 3 years ago, she and her husband learned more secrets of cultivating better rice crop from local farmers
by adding just the right amount of fertilizer and learned how to manage the fields.
Chens effort paid off with her constant care of the rice crops and won first place in the event.
Chens family owns about 10 hectares of farmland. Chen would survey the land day and night, rain or shine.
Now the second stage rice have been planted, and Chen is busy weeding all the time to prevent them from influencing the growth of rice crop;
her effort even make her past champion husband look like an amateur. Chen hopes the rice plants can grow in the best possible environment, including weather, soil and harmony with all other elements
as that is the only way to get the best result out of those plants.
