Taipei City Mayor Hau Long-bin has been engulfed in a political crisis from his administration's failure to compare prices before making purchase plans of Xinsheng Overpass construction project.

This has seriously sabotaged his poll ratings in the past few days, and Hau has admitted that the outcome will possibly affect his Taipei City mayoral campaign.

In showing support, President Ma shared the stage with Hau in a public event on Sunday, in an apparent effort to endorse Hau's candidacy, while KMT secretary-General King Pu-tsung also took immediate actions to contain the crisis from escalating.

The opening of the Wenshan Sports Center marks the completion of the Taipei City Government's project to build one sports center in each district in the city.

The project was launched by the Ma administration when he was Taipei mayor and completed by his successor Hau Long-bing and it is widely believed to be a successful achievement of the government.

While Hau is now engulfed in the crisis from the Xinsheng overpass construction project, President Ma showed up in a public occasion with Hau in the morning to show his support, where he even played pool with Hau, demonstrating their great teamwork spirits.

The dispute over the purchase plans and budgets for the overpass and the expo has turned into the center of discussion on talk shows over the past few days, causing the poll ratings to slide.

KMT secretary-general King Po-tsung takes the matter seriously and urgently to contain the crisis from spreading.

Hau acknowledged the city government's failure to notice the price differentials earlier and promised to take action against any officials found to have taken bribes from the contractor, adding there would be no limits to the investigation, which he promises to give a clear account to the citizens within two weeks.

In addition to President Ma, the KMT party central and caucus in the city council will make efforts to ensure Hau's campaign success.
