First Grandparents Day
The first carnival to honor the "Grandparents Day" has been held this past Sunday, attracting many participants. The Ministry of Education has officially set the fourth Sunday of every August as "Grandparents Day", in an attempt to create a greater bond between the old and the young.
The elder woman doesn't seem tired when carrying her grandchild on her back. Nowadays, many children are raised by grandparents since they are young and the bond between grandchildren and grandparents may be stronger than that of their parents.
The Ministry of Education announced that starting this year National Grandparents Day will be celebrated on the fourth Sunday of August to honor grandparents.
It's not uncommon to see children raised by their grandparents; the percentage of such phenomenon is relatively higher in disadvantaged families.
Some social crimes and incidents are derived from grandparenting as well.
Scholars suggest that in addition to the establishment of the new Grandparents Day, efforts should be made to encourage activities that grandparents and their grandchildren could enjoy together.
Otherwise, without a strong foundation of the importance of family education, Grandparents Day would become just another formality without any real significance.
