Documentaries with Love
The "Love in Taipei Film Festival" has kicked off here in Taiwan. The awareness event presents documentary films from all around the globe, portraying the stories of children who struggle from mental and physical disabilities. Their courage, and their determination to overcome their disabilities shown in these films will truly touch your heart.
Cute little Samuel's laughters are contagious.
But before he was born, his father could have never imagined having a child with celebral palsy.
Samuel's father, who is a photo journalist, decides to document Samuel's life with a camera.
James was a mafia and a gunshot left him paralyzed from the waist down.
But it was when he began to fulfill his dream as an athlete.
Now he is a wheelchair athlete.
These two movies are the opening films in the "Love In Taipei" film festival which features stories of the physically challenged.
Jack is a young dancer, but a car accident took away his right leg.
With his strong determination, he went back to the stage.
The Canadian documentary film won the best short movie in the 2008 International Disability Film Festival.
Since not many documentary films of similar subjects are available in Taiwan, the Kuang Ching Foundation hopes the two-month long free film festival raises the awareness of the disadvantaged groups in Taiwan and encourages local directors to seek out these subjects.
