First Educational Survey
In the first nationwide educational survey, Taipei is proclaimed the city with the best educational system around the island, followed by Miaoli County, which boasts of highly successful education policies. Authorities hope that a positive momentum will be created by this survey to elevate Taiwan's overall quality of education.
Parenting Magazine recently undertook its first large-scale, nationwide education survey. In the results published earlier this week, Taipei City and Miaoli County came in first and second, respectively.Miaoli also came in at the top of two teacher surveys: city or county with the best educational policies, and city or county that places the highest value on education.
Miaoli County Magistrate Liu Cheng-hung is renowned for his educational reform motto, which is "No Scrimping on Education, No Hardship for Children." Although Miaoli has fewer resources than larger cities and counties, it has been able to maintain a high educational standard due to Liu's efforts.
Taipei City, meanwhile, enjoys a wealth of resources and a highly competitive educational environment.According to Taipei City Deputy Mayor Lee Yong-ping,the city government will continue to do everything in its power to improve the quality of education in Taipei City.
