Hairy Crabs Tastier Than Ever
The unstable weather condition has greatly influenced the harvest of these hairy crabs. With less crabs, and a high demand, people don't mind paying more for a tasty meal.
These hairy crabs have just gone on the market.
They have come to market one month late, and that is why they are bigger.
The extra time of growing has made them even fatter and tastier than previous years. The northeast monsoon winds and its changing temperature have affected about 70 percent of the farms, drastically decreasing the harvest this time, and hiking up the price dramatically.
For example, this crab which weighs 225g and commands a top price at 1,200 NT dollars.
Due to the harsh condition, the numbers of the survived crabs are less, but their quality is much better.
Therefore, no matter how much money is available, one may still need extra luck to get one hairy crab.
