NANMADOL HEADS TO CHINA
Tropical storm Nanmadol has since left Taiwan, after causing severe rainfalls and floodings in some parts of the island, especially in the Pingtung area. According to the Central Weather Bureau, it is heading towards southeastern China.
Typhoon Nanmadol stayed over Taiwan for only a few hours and was weakened after it brought great destruction in the Philippines. One death has been reported due to the storm.
About 30,000 households in the southern and eastern part of Taiwan lost power, while 8,000 people were evacuated from potentially dangerous areas. Schools across the island were forced to shut down, while offices were closed to ensure the safety of the people.
Nanmadol was the first typhoon to hit Taiwan this year.
