S. KOREA TO SEND AID TO NORTH KOREANS
South Korean authorities have confirmed that they will be providing close to 7 million dollars in aid to help the 6 million people, who are in need of food in North Korea, through the World Health Organization.
According to the U.N., millions in the North are suffering from starvation, and one in three children in the North are chronically malnourished.
However, the South will not be sending direct aid, but through third channels. This current assistance comes weeks after a U.N. official visited North Korea, and encouraged the international community to increase its support for the people in the region, who are in desperate situations.
