YAO ENDS HIS BASKETBALL CAREER
Yao Ming has announced his retirement in a news conference in China yesterday that he is ending his basketball career for good. As one of the most successful overseas athletes in the league, he has struggled with foot and ankle injuries in recent years, in which he missed 250 regular-season games.
Yao first started playing for Shanghai Sharks from 1997 to 2002, before being drafted to Houston Rockets of NBA, in 2002. The 30-year-old star said that he is grateful, and that he would like to thank his family and his team, the Houston Rockets.
