TSENG FAILED TO CLAIM US OPEN CROWN
World number one female golfer Tseng Yani will have to wait at least another year to achieve her career Grand Slam, as she failed to close in on the leaders in the final rounds of the U.S. Open, finishing at a 6-over-par 290 in total, and was tied for 17th place at the end of Sunday.
Tseng was forced to play 34 holes in a day due to rain delays over the weekend, and the abnormal scheduling made it hard for the 22-year-old to maintain her level of play consistently high.
In both of the third and the fourth rounds, Tseng had at least two birdies in the first nine holes, only to lose her advantage in the second half with one bogey after another.
Tseng admitted afterwards that she felt especially nervous while playing in the U.S. Open, the only major tournament she hasn't won yet.
And she promised to come back stronger next year for another shot at winning the career Grand Slam.
