THE STORY BEHIND IRON EGGS
At the end of today's edition, wed like to share with you the back story behind one of northern Taiwan's most famous snacks--the iron eggs.
Workers are taking out the eggs that have been stewed in soybean sauce and spices before putting them into the oven.
After the eggs are dry, they will be packed in air-tight packs. The dark brow and chewy eggs are the iron eggs, the common Taiwanese snacks.
Many people would prefer Danshui iron eggs when selecting them.
However, few people may know that many so-called Danshui iron eggs are actually from Siluo Township in Yunlin County.
This is because Shiluo Township has been famous for the soybean sauce, which is the key ingredient in stewing the iron eggs.
Makers can produce over 10,000 delicious iron eggs in one day.
Some people in Siluo have therefore turned to making iron eggs using local soybean sauce, and have successfully established their own brand over the past decade.
