TSAI AND SU'S STANCE ON NUKE POWER
The two DPP presidential candidates, Tsai Ing-wen and Su Tseng-chang both met with the residents in the south of the island to express their stance on nuclear power issues. While Tsai continues to carry out her plan of a "nuclear-free homeland", Su is saying that no timeframe should be set for nuclear decommissioning, and that several conditions should be taken into consideration before terminating the plant.
Su Tseng-chang is participating in this popular "bobee" dance, and never seems to want to give it up though this does not seem to disappoint the crowd.
During the weekend, his schedule was full, visiting Tainan and Kaohsiung for 4 public appearances.
He emphasized that decommissioning nuclear power from Taiwan should not be something mandated by a schedule but by a number of important conditions being achieved a pre-condition.
Su stressed that there should not be a specific time table,
for the remove of nuclear power from Taiwan, as he was taking aim at Tsai Ing-wen's recent proposal for a nuclear free homeland by 2025.
This stirred debate between both candidates for the DPP's Presidential nomination.
Regarding the subject of nuclear power, both Su and Tsai have discussed the issue and have both sought the support of local citizens.
Tsai Ing-wen on Sunday went to Yunlin, where she planted fields with farmers and sampled agricultural products.
She thought there was an imbalance between domestic agricultural and industrial development polices as agriculture could be an important engine of future economic development.
She said agriculture should be promoted to the level of national security.
Assigning significance to agricultural development, the DPP presidential primary saw increased competition between Tsai and Su as they competed about who had better policies.
