THE MAKING OF BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONS
The biggest winner at the latest national high school bodybuilding competition is the judo team from a high school in Taitung. Many people are wondering how these 60 athletes, who have no formal training, are able to snatch four gold, three silver and one bronze medals in the contest. Here on CTS, we are seeing the dedication behind these individuals, who have been holding on to the number one place for three consecutive years.
National Taitung University Affiliated Physical Education Senior High School's judo team trains daily after school.
A dozen of the team's 60 athletes recently competed in a national junior and senior high school bodybuilding and fitness competition, and came away with four gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal.
The squad also won the team event for the third consecutive year.
As judo athletes and bodybuilders have different physical standards and body types, many were surprised to hear of the team's accomplishments.
While National Taitung University Affiliated Physical Education Senior High School doesn't have a bodybuilding program,
the dozen athletes that took part in the competition say that their daily judo training has helped to develop their muscles and definition.
