CUTTLEFISH BONE ARTWORKS IN DEMAND
A housewife in Penghu is making big bucks with her artistic talent. By developing relief paintings out of unwanted cuttlefish bones, the unique and vivid works have helped her earn more than 100,000 NT dollars in one month.
The artwork is about two cute rabbits eating carrots.
And this one shows a rabbit picking flowers. These embossment paintings were made by Ms. Wu, a housewife living in Penghu.
But look closely, you'll see that these beautiful and vivid embossment paintings are actually made of cuttlefish bones.
A random inspiration led Ms. Wu to create embossment paintings with cuttlebones, and the result was surprisingly good because her works became very popular.
However, the materials are only available in the season of cuttlefish and with lots of orders, Ms. Wu said that some buyers have to wait for nearly one month to get the paintings.
Her creations received applause from customers and during the first month of her cuttlefish bone painting business, she has received 20 orders for cuttlebone paintings, which have earned her more than 100,000 NT Dollars.
Ms. Wu's story shows us that with creativity, even the most useless things can become valuable.
