For the first time in the history of the ROC, a firework display will be staged in the offshore Penghu islands to celebrate the National Day. And the show is going to be half-hour long. About 90% of local hotel rooms have already been booked for that day.

Brilliant fireworks shoot up in the air and illuminate the night sky as spectators gasp in delight. The fireworks circle the venue and then explode in a layer of flowers.

This year's Double Ten National Day banquet and fireworks show have been moved off of the main island for the first time, and will take place on the offshore island of Penghu.

Whereas the fireworks show of the Penghu Ocean Fireworks Festival was held at Rainbow Bridge, the Double Ten fireworks show will be held at Penghu County Stadium due to the lack of tall buildings and structures around it.

The best place to watch the show is from the roof of the Makung Township Office. The half-hour show will start at 8:30 p.m. and feature more than 2,000 fireworks.
