HELPING CHILDREN IN NEED
In order to help the underprivileged aboriginal children in a rural elementary school in Hsinchu, a counseling program has been started for social workers to be stationed in campus on a long-term basis, providing the students with the support and resources they need.
These students hop excitedly from one bed to another, as they introduce their dorm rooms to their guests.
Situated in Hsinchu County, Jianshih Township is Yu Feng Elementary School, where 20 out of 26 students live on campus during week days.
As most of these students come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, social groups have donated money and have volunteered to offer support and resources to these aborigine kids.
Although still in first grade, these kids are already living on campus, far away from their families.
At school, the students play, study, eat, and do just about everything together.
While teachers offer guidance in class, the school takes care of the students' campus life.
Although the students don't say it, they miss the warmth they get from their parents and home.
So social groups have volunteered to fill in this void and offer these students the warmth and support that is usually found only at home.
