RANDOM BLOSSOMS
The abnormal weather patterns before and after the Chinese New Year have caused
flowers of different bloom periods to blossom at the same time in the Wulai area of New Taipei City. Here on CTS, let's take a look at the extraordinary sight.
Having light pink cherry blossoms and dark pink plum blossoms in bloom at the same time is a rare sight indeed, and tourists are thrilled by the views as they walk along the pedestrian path near the Wulai waterfall.
Cherry blossoms in Taiwan's mountainous areas generally don't bloom until after the plum blossom season, but abnormal weather conditions in recent weeks have led to the opposite occurring in Wulai.
Wulai's plum blossoms didn't start blooming until two weeks after the cherry blossom season arrived, and meteorologists say that greater temperature discrepancies are the result of La Nina and global warming.
Despite cold weather and light, seasonal rains, tourists continue flocking to Wulai to witness the unusual phenomenon.
