TRAVEL DISPUTES
A group of tourists have recently won a lawsuit against their travel agency who failed to notify them in regard to the changes made on their vacation packages. Taking the case as an example, the consumers' foundation is reminding the public to understand the terms prior to signing the contract and should preserve the paperwork in case any disputes occur.
It was supposed to be a happy trip abroad.
But the travel package was far from what it was specified.
Tourists who went to a ten-day China tour sued the travel agency for suddenly changing the hotel from a 4-star to a 3-star one after their departure.
The cruise ship they took while touring the lake was not what was written in the contract.
The verdict was in favor of the customers.
Consumers' Foundation reminds the public the key of the victory was the standardized form contract.
When purchasing travel products, one should check out the website of the Tourism Bureau and refer to the example of the standardized form contract.
According to which, the travel agency is not eligible to change the details of the contract even five days before the departure.
Travel Quality Assurance Association warns the public to pay extra attention on low-priced tour packages,
saying that each season it would disclose reasonable fees of tour groups for consumers to compare.
If the tour prices are lowered than the range of reasonable prices, the risks are greater.
Therefore, one should be careful before purchasing tour packages to avoid unpleasant travel experiences.
