LOSE MORE WEIGHT IN COLD WEATHER?
A recent U.K. survey has indicated that the cold weather can help you shed some pounds. When you are experiencing low temperatures, the body produces a tissue known as brown fat, which burns calories to generate heat in keeping the body warm.
Everybody says that one can easily put on weight during winter.
But little do we know that it is actually more efficient to lose weight in winter.
The latest research in England shows that our bodies make a unique form of fat tissue, which is called brown fat.
Rather than storing excess energy, this fat actually burns through it especially when the temperatures drop.
In fact, there are two forms of fat, one is white fat that hangs over belt buckles and swings from the backs of arms and another is brown fat, which can actually burn calories.
But to the disappointment, such brown fat only consists of 5% of infant's body fat and a lot lower in adult's body.
In other words, the effect is really limited if one wants to lose weight taking advantage of one's own brown fat.
All in all, the best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more.
