OFFERING MORE THAN JUST A JOB
The Hsinchu Science Park just had its first job fair after the New Year vacation, with 38 companies offering more than 3,000 positions in the technology industry. And that is not all. They are even putting benefits and guarantees on the table to attract qualified employees.
One after one these people are seeking employment, with employers having a big stack of resumes on the table.
It was the Hsinchu Science Park's first job fair after returning from Lunar New year.
It was to begin with 16 companies providing 800 job openings.
Later, 38 companies joined, providing 3,000 job openings.
With the economy returning to health and many orders, Hsinchu is experiencing a rather obvious shortage of workers.
Manufacturers have resorted to guaranteeing 14 months of annual salary and various other benefits to attract talent.
Entry-level technicians are not only needed but also engineers. Manufacturers in the Hsinchu Science Park, such as AU Optronics have 550 openings, with 300 openings available in research and development.
Chi Mei Optoelectronics also provides 290 job openings, Unimicron and Macronix did not set a limit on job seekers.
Not only are there job openings for engineers but also production line personnel, which is obviously insufficient. These employers say average salaries are in excess of 30,000 NT$.
