PRICE HIKES DURING THE NEW YEAR HOLIDAY
It seems that holiday foods are not the only products that are facing a price hike during the Chinese New Year. Many businesses will be charging more for their services starting January 30th, including getting new hairdos, washing cars, and riding in cabs.
Many people want to get their hair done and look pretty for the Lunar New Year holiday.
But if you don't want to spend extra bucks, be sure to seize the time since a lot of hair salons are having price hikes during the Lunar New Year holidays.
Three days prior to the Lunar New Year's eve, hair salons will charge additional 100 NTD for each service.
If you want to get your car washed and pay regular prices, now it's probably too late as most car wash operators are implementing a price hike three days to seven days before the Chinese New Year's eve.
They charge additional 100 NTD for car washing and 200 NTD for car waxing service.
The prices of taxi rides are also increasing starting from January 31st.
In Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung and Taichung City, each taxi ride charges extra 20 NTD during the day and 40 NTD in the evening.
In Kaohsiung, passengers will have to pay additional 50 NTD for one taxi ride during the day and 20% holiday surcharge in the evening.
If you don't want to spend additional money for the same service you get, you might want to get it done before the price hike or find service providers that don't charge extra.
