SEARCH FOR NEXT HEALTH MINISTER
Premier Wu Den-yih earlier revealed that a minor cabinet reshuffle will take place before the end of this month, and the media attention has been mainly focused on who will succeed Yaung Chih-liang as the next health minister. Now it's widely speculated that Chiu Wen-ta, president of Taipei Medical University, may be the most likely candidate.
Department of Health is launching a weight-loss campaign, where Premier Wu Den-yih and minister of Health Yaung Chi-liang measure their BMI values to see if they are fit.
Premier Wu talked about his weight-loss secrets.
When Yaung gave a speech, he praised the premier's determination, saying that he's not determined enough so he was fired by president Ma.
He also mentioned eating too well costs a lot to National Health Insurance. So the government should import less U.S. beef.
Yaung quickly resigned after the second generation of Health Insurance was approved.
Although Yaung didn't mention his true feelings, the talk he gave in front of Premier Wu sparked much speculation.
Although Yaung and Wu had much interaction and talk, Wu didn't make any comments when asked about Yaung's replacement.
But the outgoing minister Yaung said that premier asked him to suggest a good candidate.
Premier Wu said he would complete the cabinet reshuffle before January 31, which is only a week away. So the new cabinet member list should be revealed before the upcoming Lunar New Year Holidays.
