New director of the Academia Historica, Lu Fang-sang, took office during a ceremony yesterday, where he announced his vision and future plans for the institute, including a massive academic project to present Taiwan's perspective in the writing of ROC history.

Presidential Secretary-General Liao Liou-yi will soon be replacing King Pu-tsung as the secretary-general of the KMT.

On Thursday, he was on hand as Lu Fang-sang was sworn in as the new director of the Academia Historica.

Lu declined to speak of the resignation of his predecessor, Lin Man-houng, over the "100 Most Influential Figures in Republic of China History" controversy.

Instead, he discussed the institution's plans for a large-scale historical revision project to commemorate the Republic of China's centennial year.

In regards to the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, Lu said that China's perspective that the Republic of China ended in 1949 and its portrayal of the history of Taiwan as "local history" are endangering Taiwan's right to historical discourse.

The Academia Historica will be undertaking a new six-decade history of the Republic of China on Taiwan, and Lu will have to exercise prudence in his new position, particularly in regards to the controversial 228 Incident.
