You may want to double check on the price of the instant noodles next time you hit the supermarket, and before you throw it right in your shopping cart. Due to the rising prices of raw materials, don't be surprised if you end up paying up to 20 percent more for your favorite brand of convenience food.

Taiwan's three major food companies, VEDAN, Wei Lih Food, and Uni-President have announced that they may be raising the prices of instant noodles.

The cost of raw materials has been increasing lately, causing a hike in production value.

Following the severe flooding in Australia and the snowstorm in Europe, the prices of flour, palm oil, potato starch and beef are hitting a record high.

Vedan said the price tag for their instant noodles might go up by more than 10%.

WeiLih Food said that if the prices of raw materials continue to soar, an adjustment may be made on March 1st the soonest,

and customers may have to pay 15-20 % more to get a taste of the company's instant noodles.

As for Uni-President, the corporation which dominates 50 percent of Taiwan's instant noodles market,

the representatives say, that they will likely to follow suit after the Chinese New Year.
