Several famous authors are becoming victims of technology. With smartphones and tablet computers being a big part of our everyday lives, we are also seeing a five percent increase of people downloading pirated ebooks. In order to protect the industry, civil groups are now calling the government to establish a licensing mechanism on original digital publications.

At just one touch of a button, users can download published works by renowned author Gidden Ko.

Gidden Ko who likes the carefree work style of the Internet has always preferred to create his works online - except he never imagined that now,

as smartphones become ever popular and the introduction of the iPad and ebook readers, people who download his pirated works would increase by 5%.

One of the vendor platforms where his pirate works are most accessed is Apple's, where works by Gidden Ko, Dan Brown, and Haruki Murakami are resold by piraters.

Gidden Ko once took his complaint directly to Apple but waited in vain for a response from the corporation.

Civil groups are urging Apple to inspect their ebook products more carefully and to request providers to show their publisher IDs.

They are also calling for the government to more aggressively push out a system to protect copyrights of ebooks and catch piraters.
